20 Wayne Dyer Quotes About Life | Sprinkled With My Review
I have made a collection of these Dr. Wayne Dyer quotes because his words give me a real and thoughtful view about life, time management, personal development, and relationship with people. He has an extensive collection of videos, books, and podcasts where he passionately teaches different approaches to life that most of take for granted or struggle with.
Here are some of his classic books and audio that have stood out for me:
Wayne Dyer’s 20 Quotes
1.) “You cannot be lonely if you like the person you’re alone with.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
Hmmm! I have learned that some people feel so bored when no one is around or there is no friend to chat with. That means we have to take care of our inner mind and be at peace with ourselves so we can find it interesting to spend time with ourselves. Love yourself and love the way you are. This is a deep one.
2.) “Your children will see what you are all about by what you live rather than what you say.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
It’s not just about dishing out rules and regulations in your home. When you live an honest and loving life, the little ones pick it up. Lead by example because your next generation will build on the character they have seen you live. Powerful.
3.) Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases and its toll on success and happiness is heavy.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
Before now, I used to procrastinate a lot until one day this put me in trouble. I did not complete a particular task that was given to me in school until the last day of submission. It was so painful because it cost me some of my grades in that course. I quickly had to learn to do things immediately without waiting for deadlines. I love this one
4.) “Go for it now. The future is promised to no one.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
You know, when we were kids, one would say; “When I grow up, I will do this…”.
When we grow up, we would say, “when I get make money I will do that…”
When I get married or when my kids grow up or if only I could be here or there.
We keep wishing for a certain time to come in our lives but we forget that one can drop dead anytime. Death knows not if you are a child or old. Wow! How awesome.
5.) “Stop acting as if life is a rehearsal. Live this day as if it were your last. The past is over and gone. The future is not guaranteed.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
In Nigerian pidgin English, we would say, “I get am before no be property”.
Whatever is gone is gone. Start today to rebuild. Is it your finances or relationship or career? Don’t sit and wish that the way situations were in the past will be repeated. Do your best today to build the future you want.
6.) “There is no scarcity of opportunity to make a living at what you love; there’s only the scarcity of resolve to make it happen.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
The hunger to create what you love and doing it every day is what you need to create the opportunity to make a living from it. Make that decision to work on what you love every day, then it could become a means of livelihood. No dulling. Oya, let’s get to work.
7.) “You leave old habits behind by starting out with the thought, ‘I release the need for this in my life’.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
Have you tried to quit smoking or drinking or any kind of bad habit? Telling yourself that you have no need of that act or item in your life anymore might just be the magic to quit a bad habit. It’s possible. Give it a try and mean it when you say you are quitting.
8.) “Everything you are against weakens you. Everything you are for empowers you.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
This one is so clear.
9.) “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
Our brain most times tend to focus on the negative side of things. When we tend to look for good things around us we are happier. You may have lost a job or business opportunity. You may decide to sit and cry and blame management and others or see it as an opportunity to go and sharpen your skills or find a different path entirely. Many things we have today, others are wishing for half of that.
10.) “You cannot always control what goes on outside. But you can always control what goes on inside.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
Everyone has their own way of seeing and interpreting life events. The world around you might be toxic but you can choose to be kind and loving. Take care of your own mind and character.
11.) “Circumstances do not make a man, they reveal him.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
Let’s take lack of resources as a circumstance here.
@Jaystephens wrote on LinkedIn, “Money is an amplifier. If you were generous before you had it, you can be more generous. If you were miserable before you had it, you can spread more misery or find more misery. If you were a jerk before you had money, you can put it on greater display. If you were caring before you had money, you can create more opportunities to care. If you had a desire to lift others before you gained wealth, your capacity to lift has increased. Money is an amplifier.”
Some people will change entirely once they are placed in positions of authority. Let whatever is revealed in your character be good.
12.) “When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
Yes. So true.
13.) “Your reputation is in the hands of others. That’s what reputation is. You can’t control that. The only thing you can control is your character.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
Our character defines who we are. Someone says that a bad character is like a flat tire in our lives’ vehicle. We have the power to design our character. When we get this right, we won’t have to worry about our reputation. Our character will speak for us when we are not there.
14.) “You are not stuck where you are unless you decide to be.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
I once read a LinkedIn article by Oleg Vishneplosky titled, “If you don’t like where you are, move. You are not a tree. The fear of the unknown is what keeps us from taking the next action that looks like a risk. Make that move. It might take you a little bit lower than the level you are currently in but why feel stuck when you can make a change. Where there is a will, there is a way.
15.) “When you squeeze an orange, orange juice comes out – because that’s what is inside. When you are squeezed, what comes out is what is inside you.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
Would you want the juice in you to be anger, frustration, bitterness? We know better to change that around and produce better juice when we go through rough conditions in life.
16.)”How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
If someone calls you “Hey stupid!”. Would you turn around and answer? Most times we answer such calls by getting angry when people say their opinion about us. You can choose to get upset or react in a certain way or choose to say “That’s their problem” and move on. What they are saying is their own opinion of you. That is not who you are.
My son would always come home to tell me how his schoolmates or friends say mean things to him. My answer to him usually goes like this; when you keep getting angry because of what people say or think about you, you are just accepting the mean things they say to you. You are showing that what they think of you is more important than who you really are. You just gave them your emotional remote control to tune to any channel in your life. He would smile and say, “No, I can’t let anyone control me like that”. I really love this quote.
17.) “Conflict cannot survive without your participation.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
It takes two to tangle, right? Conflict is when two or more people or entities don’t agree or are in opposition. We can always to go for what will bring peace. This is usually a difficult one because of ego.
18.) “The fact that you are willing to say, “I do not understand, and it is fine,” is the greatest understanding you could exhibit.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
Many of us would rather try to exhibit our ignorance than admit that we don’t have a good knowledge of something. This shows how open we are to learning new things and agreeing that no one knows it all.
19.) “Judgement prevent us from seeing the good that lies beyond appearances.” ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
With all the boxes we have put all humans into, we tend to judge people by their colour, citizenship, race, religion, political affiliation, gender, tribe, name them. Let’s throw away barriers and see people as humans. Those people you have written off because of whatever reason you’ve just them maybe the people that will bring the much-needed change in your organization. They might have better ideas. An awesome quote once again.
20.) Stop looking for occasions to be offended. ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
These days, many people get offended by almost everything others do. You get offended by;
how she dimmed her eyes when she was speaking to you. How the volume of his voice was a little higher. How someone drove their car past your house or shop. How a dad or mum posted their cute baby’s photo on Facebook or Instagram. How someone didn’t say hello to you in the last event you both attended. How that friend didn’t comment on your last post. Ah! Give yourself a break.
Instead of getting offended by someone’s opinion, you can just say “Interesting. I have never thought about it that way”. It doesn’t change what your opinion is but just reduces the conflict that would arise when you pick offence. When you cease to find fault in people, you begin to experience true peace and happiness.
